I am thankful for beauty, the ability to see/make/appreciate it, and for the others in this world who make beautiful things.

Some of my greatest joys in life come from it – a golden leaf on a bare branch against a blue sky, bright red shoes worn confidently, a moment of life captured so perfectly in prose that it stings the heart with the truth of reality, a soaring light-filled atrium in a crafted building, the rush of the sea sinking to low tide at the end of a cooling August day, a smile lighting up Ethan’s face and the way that Myles’ long dark eyelashes pop against his pale skin, the twinkling of city lights and Christmas lights and stars seen far from civilization…these things carry me through the hardest parts, and lift me to the sky on the best days.

This, in essence, is what I live for.
